Overview of Services
Hampton Data Services is an international company that specialises in processing geotechnical data worldwide. Our experienced geotechnicians are able to provide the complete range of data preparation services needed to transform the most disorganised and mixed collection of data into an integrated, interpretation ready, data set. We divide our services into the following groups:
 Consultancy
Hampton Data Services provides expert advice for Technical Archival and Geotechnical Data Management services. We verify data integrity and recommend the most efficient and cost-effective ways forward.
 Cataloguing
This includes any process that directly results in the creation of a catalogue of metadata, or data about data. Such processes normally start with a review of catalogue templates and indexing systems for physical and digital files. Collecting metadata may consist of scanning tapes, manually tabulating the contents of paper documents or migrating data from legacy databases. Hampton Data Services has a wealth of experience in this area and has developed cataloguing standards for processing most types of data. The objective is to provide an audited, rationalised catalogue that provides the client with knowledge of what data is available, its form and quality.
Cataloguing
 Capture
Hampton Data Services defines capture as any process used to convert data into a supported industry standard format. Therefore, processes such as document scanning, map digitising, log digitising, seismic reconstruction, tape transcription, etc. all fall into this area. Both scanning and cataloguing services can be remotely deployed to allow data capture in the field
Data Capture Services
 Conditioning
Additional services are often needed before the results of the capture process are ready for interpretation. Logs may require editing and splicing and environmental corrections, maps may need to be presented in different projections, etc. These value added services are all part of data conditioning, the final deliverable being data that is ready for interpretation by a geoscientist or for uploading to a corporate databank.
